Tasks of the processing department
The creation of a library fund, on the basis of which the development, formation and promotion of modern basic and additional information and library services is carried out, as well as ensuring its multidimensional disclosure through a catalog system (traditional and electronic) for the prompt and complete satisfaction of readers' requests. The main tasks of the department include:
1. Scientific and technical document processing
The library's Document Processing and Catalog Management Department is responsible for ensuring full, scientifically sound and timely disclosure of the contents of the library's collections. The process includes:
- Indexing of documents based on the UDC classification system.
- Technical processing of documents, cataloging of electronic and printed publications.
- Preparation of documents for issuance to users, ensuring the possibility of their search, storage, and use.
2. Cataloging
Creation and support of traditional and electronic catalogs, including:
- Preparation of cards for each storage unit.
- Support for an electronic database accessible to users.
- Regular updating of catalog data in accordance with new receipts and write-offs.
Functions of the processing department
1. Data management
The Department ensures that records in library databases are accurate and up-to-date, facilitating easy user access to necessary materials.
2. Support for user queries
Cooperation with other departments in order to process user requests for information and detailed information about the library's collections.
3. Training and consultation
Providing consulting services for library staff regarding the processing and management of funds.
