Faculty and hospital surgery
The Department of Faculty and Hospital Surgery was established by the decision of the Academic Council of the University in order to optimize the educational process in September 2019. by merging two surgical departments: the Department of Faculty Surgery with a course in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care and the Department of Hospital Surgery. The combined history of the two departments dates back 100 years, and dates back to 1920, when a hospital surgery clinic was established on the basis of the Regional Kuban-Black Sea Hospital. The history of another component of the new combined department, the Department of Faculty Surgery, begins in 1923. After the merger of the two departments, from 2019 to the present, the new academic unit is headed by Konstantin Ivanovich Popandopulo, MD. He graduated from the Kuban Medical Institute in 1988. In 2008, he defended his doctoral thesis on the topic: "Clinical management in the complex treatment of acute complications of duodenal ulcer at the municipal level." Konstantin Ivanovich successfully combines scientific and practical activities. He has published more than 80 scientific papers in the central and international press. He holds 3 patents for inventions on surgical treatment of complicated duodenal ulcer. The clinical base of the Department of Faculty and Hospital Surgery is located on the territory of the Krasnodar Clinical Hospital of Emergency Medicine of the Ministry of Health of the KK, the largest urgent institution in the Krasnodar Territory. Medical and diagnostic complexes of the clinical base are used to train students: reception, X-ray, ultrasound, pathology departments, as well as intensive care units, which allows for scientific research on a wide range of clinical materials and visually teach students the basics of surgery. Along with traditional bedside training, the department makes extensive use of simulation training using simulators, simulators and models, which in no way replaces, but only complements, the preparation for real clinical practice and ensures patient safety. The main scientific areas of the department are traditionally issues of emergency surgery of the abdominal organs, chest and abdominal injuries, urgent complications of peptic ulcer disease and surgical infection. The department develops issues of minimally invasive surgery under ultrasound and CT navigation, endovascular X-ray surgery and intraluminal endoscopy at a modern level. Currently, the department successfully employs professors: V.A. Avakimyan, G.K. Karipidi, A.Ya. Korovin; associate professors: S.V. Avakimyan, S.B. Bazlov, M.T. Didigov, V.V. Zorik, N.V. Marchenko; assistants: L.L. Zaitsev, K.A. Isakhanyan, O.Y. Klyuchnikov, E.Y. Lobkov, A.V. Morozov, V.V. Narsia, E.E. Porodenko. The faculty of the Department of Faculty and Hospital Surgery is able to ensure continuity in the learning process and high-quality training for practical healthcare, while the importance of the combined department as an educational and scientific-practical center will not only be preserved, but also multiplied with great success.
