Pharmacology
The Department of Pharmacology of Kuban State Medical University was founded in 1922. Professor Pavel Petrovich Avrorov, an outstanding scientist and public figure, was elected the first head of the department by competition. P.P. Avrorov was born in 1870 in the village of Naleskino, Vyaznikovsky district, Vladimir province. He graduated from the Theological Seminary and the Medical Faculty of Tomsk University with honors. After some time, he was sent to the St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy for scientific improvement. In 1896, he was enrolled as a dissector of the Department of General Pathology. At that time, the department was headed by the world-renowned scientist V. V. Pashutin. A large group of scientific youth rallied around this scientist – future celebrities of Russian medicine: N.P. Kravkov, A.A. Likhachev, N.A. Albitsky and others. In this environment of creative uplift, P.P. Avrorov worked for 8 years. The influence of V.V. Pashutin and his school left an indelible mark on Pavel Petrovich: he is imbued with bold scientific ideas. Aurorov is actively engaged in the scientific development of issues of complete starvation, based on the fact that many diseases are complicated by starvation of the body, which has a significant impact on the course and outcome of the disease. The results of many years of research allowed P.P. Aurorov to perform and in 1900 brilliantly defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Metabolism and energy development of the body during complete starvation." This work was a significant contribution to Russian medical science. Two years later, Pavel Petrovich was elected a privatdozent of the Department of General Pathology of the Military Medical Academy. In 1904, P.P. Avrorov was elected head of the Department of General Pathology of the Medical Faculty of Tomsk University and worked there for 17 years. During this period, Pavel Petrovich was doing a lot of work to study the effect of serum on blood composition and metabolism. For the first time, he is conducting research on the cultivation of tissues outside the body. The most important of them is "The experience of cultivating tissues outside the body." This work was carried out jointly with A.D. Timofeevsky. In 1913, P.P. Aurorov and A.D. Timofeevsky managed to obtain interesting results in the cultivation of human leukemic blood. Later, for a series of works on the cultivation of tissues outside the body, the authors were awarded the Professor M.M. Rudnev Prize and recognized as the founders of this field in the USSR. Along with his extensive scientific and pedagogical work, P.P. Avrorov served as the dean, vice-rector and chairman of the State Probation Commission of the Medical Faculty in Tomsk. In 1922, P.P. Avrorov was elected head of the Department of Pharmacology at the Kuban Medical Institute. P.P. Avrorov, who has just organized the institute, undertakes with great enthusiasm to help in its formation. He organizes and equips the Department of Pharmacology, providing it with everything necessary for the deployment of the educational process and scientific research. By necessity, he also has to organize the work of the Department of Experimental Hygiene, which he headed for 8 years - from 1924 to 1932. He was greatly credited with organizing the laboratory and the chemical protection course. P.P. Avrorov had to teach pathophysiology, pharmacology, hygiene and toxicology, and did a lot of administrative work at the institute, being its rector (1925-1929). A lot of attention PP. Avrorov devoted his time to educational, methodical and educational work with student youth. His lectures reflected the modern achievements of medical science of that time. Apart from his extensive teaching and administrative work, P.P. Avrorov studied local conditions and opportunities to create his own scientific field. He drew attention to the fact that the North Caucasus, the Kuban and the Black Sea regions are rich in mineral springs and therapeutic mud. He took the initiative to study the resort resources of Kuban. They pay special attention to the pharmacodynamic study of the Psekup mineral springs of the Goryachy Klyuch resort, as well as the resorts of Gelendzhik, Talga and others. P.P. Avrorov did a lot of work to improve the methods of experimental research. P.P.
Under the leadership of P.P.Aurorova successfully defended their dissertations by 3 graduate students: G.M.Shpuga, Ya.L.Levin and I.E.Akopov.It is admirable and deeply grateful to see how P.P.Aurorov, overloaded with pedagogical and scientific activities, during his 18-year work at the Kuban Medical Institute, he served as vice-rector, rector, head of the sector (dean) of correspondence education and the educational and scientific part (from 1935 until the end of his days - until July 19, 1940), while remaining simple, responsive, always accessible, principled and extremely humane A person. After the death of P.P.Aurorov, since 1940 the department was headed by associate professor Yakov Lvovich Levin. He improved a number of pharmacological research methods.
Since 1958, the department was headed by Professor Ivan Emanuilovich Akopov.During this period, the main scientific problem of the department became “pharmacology of the process of blood coagulation and hemostasis.”During his scientific and pedagogical activities (1945-1974) I.E.Akopov trained 27 candidates and 3 doctors of medical sciences. The result of scientific research was the introduction into medical practice of Logochilus intoxicating preparations, which have hemostatic, sedative, antihypertensive and hyposensitizing properties.Under the leadership of I.E. Akopov, the organization of an allergological service began in Kuban to combat the regional pathology - ambrosial hay fever.
Since 1974, the department was headed by I.E. Akopov’s student, Professor Arkady Ivanovich Ostroumov.During this period, along with the study of the pharmacology of blood coagulation and hemostasis, issues of pharmacotherapy of allergic diseases are being developed. In Krasnodar and many other cities of the region, allergy centers are being created, which are still successfully operating today.Extensive research work carried out by A.P.Ostroumov, nominated him among the leading allergists in our country and Europe.During the period of his leadership of the department, 11 graduate students and applicants successfully defended their Ph.D. dissertations.
In 1980 - 1981, the duties of the head of the department were performed by Professor Vera Mikhailovna Yadrova.During this period, educational and methodological work and research in the main scientific areas of the department were continued.
In 1981, Professor P.A. Galenko-Yaroshevsky was elected to the position of head of the Department of Pharmacology by competition. The knowledge and experience gained at the Vinnytsia Medical Institute (at his former place of work) under the guidance of the renowned pharmacologist Professor A.A. Stolyarchuk, and the long-term experience of the staff of the Department of Pharmacology of the Kuban Medical Institute served as a good basis for improving student teaching methods in accordance with the growing requirements for the quality of training of young specialists. Due to the avalanche-like increase in the volume of information material on pharmacology, the teaching staff of the department began to prepare educational and methodological materials for students, taking into account the profiling of teaching by specialty, reflecting the most important achievements in the relevant field of knowledge according to the topic under consideration in lectures and practical classes. Subsequently, every 5 years, the manual (with corrections and additions) "Pharmacology. A guide to practical exercises" for students of 2-4 courses. In terms of improving the teaching of pharmacology, the department cooperates with the relevant departments of the Pyatigorsk Pharmaceutical Academy, Volgograd and Rostov Medical Universities. As a result of this cooperation, several jointly prepared textbooks and practical training manuals for students of medical universities and students of medical and pharmaceutical colleges have been published and republished to date. With the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology of Kyiv National Medical University named after A.A. The textbook "Pharmacology. The recipe. Practical exercises" for international students. It should be noted that Professor V.M. Yadrova, associate Professor L.V. Murtazayeva, as well as senior laboratory assistant Yu.I. Zubovich made a huge contribution to the educational and methodological work of the department (for more than 25 years she provided great assistance in solving issues related not only to the educational process, but also to maintaining the material and technical base of the department at the proper level). Published by P.A. Galenko-Yaroshevsky and co-authors of the monograph on the most pressing problems of pharmacology and pharmacotherapy are intended not only for specialists in the relevant field of knowledge, but also for medical students of 3-6 courses. Some of these monographs are transferred to the reading room of the university library, as well as presented to the most successful students and members of the student scientific society. In order to improve the level of teaching of pharmacology, each teacher (in turn) prepares and reports educational and methodological materials at the department meeting, taking into account the latest achievements in the field of pharmacology. The staff's efforts are also focused on re-equipping the department with new teaching tables, diagrams and other visual aids (in Russian and English) of an educational and educational nature, as well as multimedia projectors and computers equipped with training and monitoring programs. At each practical lesson, computer testing (for 20-30 minutes) of students' knowledge is carried out, for these purposes, the department is equipped with a modern computer classroom. Elements of socially oriented education are also used in working with students. This methodology of organizing the educational process, reflecting the modern concept of the unity of education and upbringing, serves the noble purpose of training a highly qualified doctor, pharmacist, person, citizen. The department works in close contact with the relevant deaneries: joint meetings are held to discuss both the current student performance and the final one (after exams). Representatives of the dean's offices attend practical classes, lectures and exams, which also has a positive effect on the quality of students' training. In order to control the quality of teaching, the head of the department attends monthly practical classes and selectively conducts final classes with students, followed by a discussion at the cathedral meeting of the identified shortcomings. In addition, teachers of the department carry out mutual visits of practical classes. The department pays great attention to the work of the student scientific circle. The results of the research carried out by the students are reported and discussed at the meetings of the circle, as well as at student scientific conferences of various levels. Reports are prepared in both Russian and English.
The most active circle students perform a significant part of their research during their 3rd - 6th year studies, which later turn into dissertations. Currently, former circle members, applicants, postgraduates and doctoral students of the department are successfully working in various medical institutions, Kuban Medical University and other universities, as well as in research institutes both in Russia and in countries near and far abroad. Among them are doctors of sciences and professors Sh.S. Akhmedova, V.V. Bartashevich, A.N. Bondarenko, S.E. Gumenyuk, S.M. Lemkina, S.N. Linchenko, K.B. Murzagulova, S.G. Pavlenko, M.V. Pokrovsky, V.V. Ponomarev, A.I. Ponomareva, V.L. Popkov, F.V. Semenov, V.V. Skibitsky, V.V. Khan, I.L. Cherednik and S.A. Shakhmardanova. Since 1981, the department has been developing a new scientific direction for the study of the neuro-, cardio- and dermatotropic activity of benzofuran, piperidine, indole, imidazobenzimidazole derivatives, as well as substances of a metabolic type of action. The result of this work was the creation (in co-authorship) and the introduction into medical practice of such drugs as richlocaine, soufan and baliz-2. Over the past decade, the scientific activity of the department has focused on such an important section of pharmacology as the development of a new generation of medicines (local anesthetics, antiarrhythmics, antianginal drugs, as well as drugs that increase skin survival in conditions of reduced blood circulation). In this area, the department closely cooperates with the Research Institute of Physical and Organic Chemistry of the Southern Federal University, the Department of Pharmacology of Volgograd State Medical University, the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Radiobiology of the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, the Department of Applied Mathematics of Kuban State University (joint work on statistical modeling), the Krasnodar branch FSAU "NMIC "MNTC "Eye Microsurgery" named after academician S.N. Fedorov" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the Scientific Research Institute of Pharmacology of Living Systems of the Belgorod State National Research University. The research carried out by P.A. Galenko-Yaroshevsky and the staff of the department together with prominent pharmacologists and clinicians from Russia and neighboring countries are protected by more than 70 copyright certificates of the USSR and patents of the Russian Federation for inventions, 14 patents of England, France, USA, Japan, Germany and other countries; 3 diplomas for scientific discoveries have been received. More than 700 scientific papers have been published, including 64 books [45 monographs (one of them in English), 7 textbooks for students of medical and pharmaceutical universities and colleges, 12 manuals for students and doctors]. Under the guidance and scientific advice of P.A. Galenko-Yaroshevsky, more than 100 candidates and 18 doctors of medical and biological sciences have been trained. On the initiative of P.A. Galenko-Yaroshevsky and his organizational participation established the Krasnodar Branch of the Southern Bureau of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, which he supervised for a number of years. P.A. Galenko-Yaroshevsky supervised and was directly involved in the toxicological studies of rubbers and their ingredients synthesized at the Scientific Research Institute of Synthetic Rubber. Academician S.V. Lebedev and intended for use in the aviation and space industry. With the active participation of P.A. Galenko-Yaroshevsky and his students have organized the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology of the Adygea Branch (Maykop) and the Department of Clinical Pharmacology of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Medical Education of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. P.A. Galenko-Yaroshevsky is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, an Honored Scientist of the Kuban and the Republic of Adygea, a leading researcher (as an external part–time researcher) of the Research Institute Institute of Pharmacology of Living Systems, Belgorod State National Research University.
