Today, strengthening the health of the population is one of the leading priorities of the Russian healthcare system.The relevance of the issue of developing a healthy lifestyle (HLS) is due to the fact that health is one of the most important values of any person, the key not only to his well-being and longevity, a full and happy life, but also the basis for the harmonious evolution of society.The professional and personal development of a future specialist should be progressive, based on the preparation of a mentally and physically perfect generation – a healthy nation.Therefore, issues of primary prevention, preservation and preservation of the level of student youth are an integral component of the university’s activities.Timely adaptation to the rapidly changing conditions of the educational and industrial environment, the constantly increasing volume and intensity of psychological stress in the educational process, as well as the formation of the proper level of professional competencies can only be achieved with good mobilization and regenerative characteristics of students.Issues of a healthy lifestyle are reflected in many program documents of the Government of the Russian Federation concerning long-term socio-economic development, health care development until 2020, in the Concept of the demographic policy of the Russian Federation for the period until 2025, the Concept for the implementation of state policy to combat tobacco consumption for 2010-2015, as well as in the strategy for implementing state policy to reduce the abuse of alcohol and prevention of alcoholism among the population of the Russian Federation for the period until 2020.Proclamation of the preservation of individual health in the educational and medical environment is one of the strategic objectives of the Kuban State Medical University.The concept of developing a healthy lifestyle at a medical university provides for a strategy for training specialists designed to provide not only treatment, but also the preservation of health.Therefore, for the first time among medical universities of the Russian Federation, in 2013, the Department of Disease Prevention, Healthy Lifestyle and Epidemiology was created at the Kuban State Medical University under the leadership of Sergei Nikolaevich Alekseenko.
