Working in the context of a pandemic required knowledge from doctors on topical issues related to COVID-19 infection. The conversion of medical institutions to help patients with the new coronavirus infection has turned thousands of specialist doctors into infectious disease specialists. The need for serious theoretical and practical training of medical personnel in infectious diseases has become more urgent than ever. The interdisciplinary approach in the training of doctors assumed the following organizational and methodological aspects: the integrativity of the educational process, the qualifications of the teaching staff, a wide contingent of students, the type and level of professional education, the participation of the Department of Infectious Diseases in the training of students of other specialties. The qualifications of the teaching staff in the implementation of an interdisciplinary approach in the education of doctors were of particular importance. Each of the teachers of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology of the FPC and teaching Staff of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Medical Education KubSMU of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has several specialties (“infectious diseases”, “epidemiology”, “bacteriology”, “pediatrics”, “therapy”, “allergology and immunology”, “healthcare organization with expertise of the quality of medical care in the compulsory health insurance system”, “anesthesiology and intensive care”, “gastroenterology”, etc.). In the shortest possible time, the staff of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology of the FPC and the teaching staff of the Kub GMU created 10 training programs (PCs) in the discipline “COVID-19”. The programs “Vaccine prevention during the COVID-19 pandemic”, “New coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the elderly and senile age”, “Coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Current issues of etiology, epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, antiepidemic measures and prevention”, “Features of outpatient dental care in the context of preventing the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19)”, “Current issues of vaccine prophylaxis for new coronavirus infection (COVID-19)” (for secondary medical personnel) became the first programs in Russia of this topic.
From March 2020 to September 2021, a record number of doctors and nursing staff were trained on COVID-19 PC cycles – 16,550 people, including 1,169 residents. Distance learning materials and tests developed by the department were used to train students of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Cube GMU” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and admission to the summer session. Remote technologies are widely used during PC cycles: on-line video lectures, practical exercises in the form of webinars, and test control. The materials provided to the audience included educational videos and the regulatory framework updated at the time of the PC. The test tasks contained 50-70 questions with one correct answer and 4 distractors. The tests were updated in a timely manner based on the latest versions of the Interim Guidelines for the Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment of COVID-19.
