The history of the department is connected with academician A.D.Ado. Unique studies conducted in the 1960s under his leadership at the Department of Pharmacology of the Kuban Medical Institute made it possible to detect the allergenic properties of ragweed pollen. Further scientific research carried out by Professor A.I.Ostroumov and received worldwide recognition created the necessary foundation for the birth of the student’s Department of Allergology and Immunology in 1991.
Taking into account the need and previous experience in training highly qualified personnel and training doctors in modern aspects of clinical immunology, allergology and laboratory diagnostics, in 1993, with the direct participation of its first head, Professor I.V. Nesterova, the Department of Clinical Immunology and Laboratory Science of the FPPV was established. Subsequently, during the merger of the Department of Clinical Immunology and Laboratory Science of the FPPV (head – Professor Nesterova I.V.) with the specialized Department of Clinical Allergology and Immunology of the FUV (head – Professor Ostroumov A.I) in 1999. The Department of Clinical Immunology, Allergology and Laboratory Diagnostics of FPPV was formed. Since 2004, he has been the Department of Clinical Immunology, Allergology and Laboratory Diagnostics of FPC and PPS. The heads of the department were from 2004 to 2012 – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor R.A. Khanferian, in the period from 2012 to 2015 – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor I.I. Pavlyuchenko. Since 2015, the department has been headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor E.F. Filippov.
The department carries out high-quality educational activities in the framework of the main disciplines: clinical laboratory diagnostics; allergology and immunology. Teaching is conducted both for students of the Faculty of Medicine, Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine, as well as for postgraduate students (residents, practitioners, doctors and biologists of the KDL).
The priority scientific directions of the department are:
“Immunology of reproduction”, within the framework of which the department carries out joint scientific activities with related departments of the University (obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics with a course in neonatology);
the functioning of the neutrophil granulocyte system is normal and in secondary immunodeficiency with the development of new methods of immunopharmacological correction of neutrophil granulocyte dysfunctions in in vitro experiments.;
development of new approaches to immunoprophylaxis, interferon and immunotherapy for patients with secondary immunodeficiency associated with atypical viral, bacterial, viral-bacterial infections, coinfections accompanied by damage to the neutrophil granulocyte system, interferon system and other mechanisms of anti-infective protection in children and adult patients.
The department has a student scientific society.
The staff of the Department of Clinical Immunology, Allergology and Laboratory Diagnostics of the FPC and the Faculty conduct active methodological work. The department has all the necessary educational and methodological documentation, lecture texts, multimedia demonstration materials. All staff of the department have the necessary regulatory documents and skills to conduct classes according to the program of the department and the disciplines taught.
The clinical work of the faculty of the department is connected not only with consulting and therapeutic activities at clinical bases, but also with diagnostic work within the framework of clinical laboratory diagnostics.
