The first mention of the establishment of the department dates from 1932 to 1953. During this period, Associate Professor A.A. Rekkandt was in charge of the radiology course at the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases. In September 1954, the Department of Radiology and Medical Radiology of the KMI (the former name of the department) was established. From that moment until May 1961, Associate Professor A.A. Rekkandt was the head of the Department of Radiology and Radiology of the KMI. From June 1961 to June 1983, the Department of Radiology and Medical Radiology was headed by Associate Professor E.I. Isaenko. From 1983 to 1988, Associate Professor Y.G. Shendrik was the head of the Department of Radiology and Medical Radiology. From 1989 to 2010, the Department of Radiation Diagnostics and Radiation Therapy at KSMU was headed by Professor A.G. Prikhodko. In 1997, the Kuban State Medical Academy organized an ultrasound diagnostics course at the Faculty of Professional Retraining of Specialists at the Department of Radiation Diagnostics and Radiation Therapy, led by A.V. Pomortsev. In November 2005, by the decision of the Academic Council of the Kuban State Medical University, the ultrasound course was reorganized into the Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics of the FPC and Teaching Staff. Since 2008, in addition to ultrasound diagnostics, other sections of radiation diagnostics have been taught at the department: radiology, radiology, radiotherapy. Since September 2010, by the decision of the Academic Council of KubSMU, the departments related to medical imaging have been merged into a single department of radiation diagnostics. From this moment to the present, the Department of Radiation Diagnostics is headed by a Doctor of Medicine, Professor Pomortsev Alexey Viktorovich. Professor A.V. Pomortsev is the chief freelance specialist in ultrasound diagnostics of the Krasnodar Territory Department of Health, President of the Association of Ultrasound and Radiation Diagnostics Specialists of the Krasnodar Territory. At the Department of Radiation Diagnostics, along with professional retraining in the specialties of ultrasound diagnostics, radiology, radiology and radiotherapy; Professional development cycles are conducted quarterly, as well as professional development cycles in the format of continuing medical education.The participants of the cycles are ultrasound diagnostics doctors, radiologists, radiologists, as well as clinicians (surgeons, urologists, obstetricians, gynecologists, internists, pediatricians, etc.). Students are trained at the Department of Radiation Diagnostics at the following faculties: dental, preventive medicine, and curative according to approved general education standards: at the III and IV courses of the Faculty of Dentistry “Radiation Diagnostics” and “Oncostomatology and Radiation Therapy”; at the VI course of the Faculty of Medicine “Radiation Diagnostics (Radiology)”; at the Second year of the Faculty of Medicine “Propaedeutics of internal diseases, radiation diagnostics”. The student scientific society is actively working at the department. The members of the society annually participate in the conferences of the SS. Residents are trained in the specialties “Radiology”, “Ultrasound diagnostics”, “Radiology”; graduate students are trained in the specialty “Radiation diagnostics and radiation therapy”. The department is constantly improving the forms of teaching, there is a search for new approaches that meet the modern requirements of training specialists: distance learning, computer testing have been introduced, the Center for Practical Skills of KubSMU has a simulation class for mastering practical skills, computer training programs. The clinical bases of the department are: KKB No. 1 named after Professor S.V. Ochapovsky, GBUZ KKB No. 2, CODE No. 1, KubSMU Clinic, Children’s Regional Clinical Hospital; Regional Perinatal Center; City Hospital No. 1; KubSMU Simulation Center. Over the 20 years of the department’s existence, 4 doctoral theses and 21 candidate theses have been defended, more than 400 scientific publications on various sections of radiation diagnostics have been published, 25 methodological recommendations for radiation diagnostics doctors have been developed, standards for ultrasound examinations of various organs and systems for doctors of the Krasnodar Territory have been developed, and a test echographic quality control of knowledge has been created. Received 19 patents for inventions. Over the past 5 years, the staff of the department has defended 2 doctoral dissertations (Z. Agaeva, O. Astafieva.V.); 3 candidates (Gorbushina T.E., L. Izmailova.G., K. Lobanov). The atlas “General issues of ultrasound diagnostics” published in 2005 received a diploma and III degree at the regional competition “Olympus of Science of Kuban”.
The training manual for ultrasound diagnostics doctors “Qualification tests for certification and attestation of doctors in the specialty “Ultrasound diagnostics”, published in 2008, was awarded with a diploma of the II degree at the regional competition ”Scientific Olympus of Kuban“, medals “90 years of KSMU”. The staff of the department, together with NPO Ritm, developed and implemented in clinical practice an automated perinatal adaptometric system (APAS) for recording and analyzing the heart rate of mother and fetus in order to diagnose intrauterine hypoxia early. The clinical residents of the department were the laureates of the All-Russian competition “Young scientists” in 2012.– Koh A.G., Degtyareva Y.S., in 2017.– Kochakova A.A. The staff of the department Pomortsev A.V. and Khudorozhkova E.D. were awarded in the competition “University Scientific Relay 2017″. Staff of the department Pomortsev A.V., Dyachenko Yu.Yu.in In 2017, we made a presentation at the ”16th World Congress”, Slovenia, Ljubljana.Regional Association of Radiation and Ultrasound Diagnostics Specialists www.radiology-kuban.ru (President – A.V. Pomortsev) was created and is actively working.The Association actively participates in the organization and holding of regional and regional scientific and practical conferences and congresses with the involvement of leading domestic and foreign experts.The main scientific activity of the department is the improvement of the complex of methods of radiation diagnostics in clinical practice.The head and staff of the department travel to the regions of the Krasnodar Territory to provide organizational and methodological assistance and professional development of radiologists. The staff of the department carries out an expert assessment of the quality of medical care, scientific and medical expertise; they constantly participate in the organization and work of scientific forums at various levels in Russia and abroad.The staff of the department is actively engaged in educational and therapeutic work.
