The Department of Surgery No. 1 of the FPC and Teaching Staff is one of the youngest departments of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Medical Education of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. It was established in April 2008 with the aim of conducting postgraduate training of specialists in abdominal surgery, endoscopy, traumatology and orthopedics and introducing modern medical technologies used in these specialties into the practical work of medical organizations in the Krasnodar Territory. From 2008 to 2010, the department was headed by Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences Alexander Mikhailovich Manuilov. From 2010 to 2017 – Doctor of Medical Sciences Anatoly Anatolyevich Zavrazhnov. Since 2017, the department has been headed by Alexander Gennadievich Baryshev, MD. The department has organized cycles of advanced training and professional retraining in the following specialties: “Surgery”, “Traumatology and Orthopedics”, “Endoscopy”, clinical residents are trained in these specialties. Advanced training cycles are being actively introduced into the curriculum of the department, provided with points from the continuing medical education system (CME) in the main specialties “traumatology and orthopedics”, “surgery”, “endoscopy”, “ultrasound diagnostics”, as well as for doctors of other specialties on topical issues of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, injury surgery, diseases musculoskeletal system, modern endoscopic, endovideosurgical and other minimally invasive diagnostic and treatment methods. The main objectives of the department’s research work are: – in the specialty “Traumatology and Orthopedics”: conducting applied research and clinical trials on the problems of severe injuries and wounds to the internal organs of the chest, abdomen and pelvis, injuries to the musculoskeletal system and major vessels, assessing the severity of injuries and the severity of the condition of patients with polytrauma, bone diseases and joints; organization of a staged surgical care system in the Krasnodar Territory for diseases of the musculoskeletal system, isolated, multiple and combined injuries, including those accompanied by shock and traumatic brain injury; development, improvement and implementation of new approaches in the treatment of patients with thermal injuries; introduction of new high-tech methods of surgical care for patients with injuries and degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the spine. – specialty “Endoscopy”: Scientific priorities include solving such urgent problems as endoscopic treatment of complex choledocholithiasis and other pathology of the extrahepatic biliary tract; early diagnosis and treatment of benign formations of the digestive canal using mucosal resection; performing diagnostic studies using magnification and endoscopic ultrasound; performing various minimally invasive surgical interventions under ultrasound control. – specialty “Surgery”: conducting applied research and clinical trials on the problems of surgical treatment of pathology of the digestive system, organizing a system of step-by-step surgical care in the Krasnodar Territory for acute and chronic pathology of the digestive system. The priority scientific areas of vascular surgery are: the study of the effectiveness of surgical interventions on the main arteries, depending on the characteristics of hemodynamic disorders caused by atherosclerotic lesions; optimization of endovascular balloon bleeding control in the surgical treatment of major vascular injury, endovascular balloon aortic occlusion (REBOA) in aortic injury and ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms, the use of temporary shunts to reduce the time of limb ischemia in vascular injury. Medical, diagnostic and teaching work by the staff of the department is carried out on the basis of GBUZ “NII-KKB No. 1”, GBUZ “KKBSMP” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, GBUZ “GB No. 4 of Sochi” of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. These multidisciplinary medical institutions have a large number of beds and a modern medical and diagnostic base designed to provide high-tech surgical care to patients, both in a planned and emergency manner. The personnel potential of the department includes 10 doctors and 9 candidates of medical sciences, who, in addition to postgraduate training of specialist doctors, train postgraduate students and clinical residents.
